CCW/CPL – NRA Personal Protection in the Home

Basic Personal Protection in the Home meets the training requirements for obtaining a Concealed Pistol License in the State of  Michigan. This course complies with Michigan Compiled Laws section 5j of 1927 PA 372.

Course Description

This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.

Student Requirements

21 years of age or older.

Not have any criminal history, personal protection order, court order or mental order which would legally prohibit a person from owning or possessing a firearm.

Required Equipment

•  Handgun: must be functional and clean

•  Loaners available for additional $20 with prior arrangement

•  2 magazines for semi-auto handguns

•  100 rounds of factory ammunition – no reloads or remanufactured ammo

•  Eye Protection (shooting glasses)

•  Hearing Protection (ear-muffs or ear-plugs)

•  Cold/wet weather gear as we will shoot rain or shine

•  Optional: extra 100-200 rounds for additional shooting drills



•  Full tuition must be received 5 business days prior to class date.

•  Checks or money orders can be mailed in, credit/debt cards payable on website.

•  Please have check or money order made out to Campbell Tactical.

•  Price includes range fees, student packet and CD-ROM with legal information.

•  For courses at Livingston Gun Club – club members receive a $25 discount.
